Sustainability
Sustainable copper for tomorrow's economy.
For all, forever.
We aspire to conduct our business responsibly within our area of activity. When doing so, we aim to achieve a balance between environmental, financial, and social interests. Throughout our company history, which goes back more than 550 years, we have had to overcome ever-changing challenges. This will also be the case in the future.
Today, sustainable copper from Brixlegg is in a class of its own. With the lowest CO2 footprint, 100% recycled raw materials, and 100% renewable energy for our electricity requirements we produce the most environmentally-friendly copper with the lowest CO2 emissions in the world. By doing so, we are not just taking a pioneering step towards meeting current demand; we are also the first in the supply chain to create the conditions for climate neutrality in the future.

THE CARBON FOOTPRINT OF OUR COPPER CATHODES HAS BEEN TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ISO 14067.
Our copper consists of 100% secondary materials and is produced in a significantly more CO2-efficient manner than primary copper smelters. Our company is already making a major contribution to climate protection and the European and national climate targets through the recycling process in copper production. And we want to push this even further: by scrutinizing our production and processes, further optimizing our energy consumption and promoting the use of renewable energy, we want to achieve ambitious goals and continue to be the best in class when it comes to green copper.

WE ARE THE ONLY COPPER SMELTER IN THE WORLD TO PROVIDE CATHODES WITH A CERTIFIED 100% RECYCLED CONTENT.
Our core competence lies in the recycling of copper-bearing secondary raw materials and the recovery of this raw material, whereby recycling requires up to 85% less energy than primary production! By covering copper demand with recycled materials, we make a significant contribution to the circular economy and the conservation of resources in Europe. We place a high priority on projects to increase energy efficiency: this is how we pursue our goal of saving primary energy and minimizing greenhouse gas emissions.
