The training takes three and a half years.

Job description according to bmwfi:

1. Read and apply technical documents
2. Define procedures, materials and methods
3. Plan and direct operating sequences, evaluate results, apply quality management systems
4. Perform tasks in accordance with relevant health and safety regulations, norms, safety standards and environmental standards
5. Select, purchase and test materials required
6. Gather technical data about processes and results
7. Set up and use apparatus for trials and tests
8. Carry out measurement and define raw materials and intermediate products
9. Supervise and direct physical, chemical and biological processes
10. Carry out preparative work to laboratory and semi-technical standards
11. Carry out physical and chemical calculations
12. Carry out calibrations
13. Conduct measures for chemical quality assurance
